Towards a twenty-first century literature

Abstract

This introduction to the first ever issue of the journal C21 will explore the development of twenty-first century literature. Tracing an evolution from the turn of the millennium through the trauma of 9/11 and taking in a diverse range of forms and styles, the article will not only outline the articles to follow in this opening issue but will present an innovative argument for the study of twenty-first century literature and creative practice as key to understanding and shaping contemporary experience.
