Abstract

This chapter draws upon the 'Changing Faces' project funded by the ESRC, but with particular reference to numeracy as an under-researched and undervalued area of adult basic skills work. The work also crosses the boundary between mathematical development and the application of functional numeracy to adult learning. It increases the awareness of the field of adult numeracy through the internal readership of the book.
