Participation and social justice

Abstract

Based on an invited plenary paper to the Social Policy Association conference in 2009, and co-authored with activists in the user and career movements, this paper considers the relationship between policies and practices designed to give service users a voice in decision making, and the achievement of socially just outcomes. It uses Nancy Fraser’s arguments for affirmative recognition and redistribution to frame this discussion.
