AbstractIn the paper the results of 1-D equivalent linear seismic response analyses, carried out for different shear wave velocity profiles belonging to the soil category D of EC8, are presented. Accelerograms from a database of Italian weak and strong ground motion records were used. For each soil profile, soil amplification factors are evaluated as the ration between peak ground acceleration resulting from the analyses and the maximum acceleration of the bedrock input motion. The results are compared with the amplification factors suggested by EC8 and with data available in the literature.
