Abstract

This special issue of the Revue CELAAN Review is dedicated to the memory of Paul Sebag (1919-2004), and bears the name of one of his most remarkable reference texts, Les Juifs de Tunisie. A prestigious figure, historian, sociologist , linguistician, geographer, one of the founders of the University of Tunis, Sebag was a key figure and pioneer of 20th century Tunisia who inspired generations of researchers. A French national born in Tunisia with Tunisian-Jewish roots, Sebag dedicated his life to research and more particularly to establishing and building up knowledge about the land of his birth.
