TAKE 7 is a study pack and accompanying DVD designed to build a practical and theoretical understanding of screen dance. It provides a comprehensive, insightful information, guidance and direction and suggestions for study in relationship to the seven film featured on the DVD. The study pack is aimed at students and teachers who wish to know more about screen dance. The pack draws on the diversity of the film collection to examine issues of screen dance history, the screen body, dance and film languages, narrative, location, treatments, sound and music and editing. The seven dance films are diverse and challenge the audience to deepen their understanding of this art form. The films were either BBC/Arts Council or South East Dance/Lighthouse commissions, and feature teams or constellations of director/choreographers: Birds David Hinton, Horseplay Alison Murray, Boy Rosemary Lee/Peter Anderson, Dust Mim King/Antony Atanasio, Outside In Margaret Williams/Victoria Marks, Lounge Miranda Pennell, Motion Control Liz Aggiss/Billy Cowie/David Anderson.
