Nick Cave, Eddie Izzard, Sonic Youth, People Show, Marc Almond, Kathy Acker, Forkbeard Fantasy, Bow Gamelan Ensemble, Captain Sensible, Chemical Brothers, Liz Aggiss, Stomp, Rory Bremner, Paul Oakenfiled, Group F, Julian Clary. Wildworks, Paul Weller, Genesis P Orridge, Sean Hughes, Roger McGough, Nico.....What does this strange fraternity of performers, poets, musician,s, dancers, comedians, Live Artists, DJs and pyrotechnicans have in common? They have all at one time or other entered the orbit of Brighton-based cultural phenomenon Zap! from itinerant alternative cabaret nights to the legendary Brighton seafront club to international event production, for the past twenty five years Zap has been synonymous with the leading edge of arts and entertainment. Additional Information:	The alternative Live Art/performance culture that had, through the Zap,an ad-hoc start in Brighton became a recognised part of the fabric of the community. This liberating space for trial and error welcomed the new breed of avant garde students form the University of Brighton, who were prepared to whittle away the barriers between dance, theatre, music and visual art. Zap was part of the radical shift throughout the 80's towards researching, developing and questioning the temporal, spatial and conceptual limits of dance/theatre/music as it related to the overlapping fields of Live Art, performance and visual art. These formative experiments were part of the pioneering part of a developing and changing landscape of live culture today.
