A review was undertaken of management tools and techniques literature, and change management literature in order to develop a classificatory framework. The classification framework features eight questions that could be asked of a change management tool/technique in order to inform understanding about its utilization. The classification of change management tools and techniques deepens understanding, enables more rigorous scrutiny of claims made for their efficacy, and forms the basis for change managers to make informed choices.
