Abstract

An in-depth analysis of the boardroom politics of the England cricket team selectors during the so-called "D'Oliveria Affair" of 1968, featuring first-hand interviews with leading protagonists and unveiling the fraught moral decisions placed upon the shoulders of the ‘blazer brigade’: “When moral fibre was called for the masters gave a masterclass in self-preservation.” See abstract for similar paper for British Society for Sports History Conference 2008
