Abstract:	The Anatomy Lesson is a series of large paintings, all oil on canvas, showing representations of paint. All works in this series are generated using a hybrid process involving lighting systems, long exposure photography and digital post-production techniques augmenting traditional painting processes. The artificial appearance of the works is an important factor in the reading of these paintings.

Additional Information:	Works from this series of paintings were first shown at “Pulse Art Fair”, New York, Thursday 27 - Sunday 30 March 2008, alongside works by Ori Gersht. Other works subsequently exhibited at “Pulse Miami”, Dec 3rd – 7th alongside works by Ori Gersht, Louise Hopkins, Michael Mueller, and Graeme Todd. A further work from the series was in the “Marmite Prize” Exhibition, Studio 1-1 Gallery, London, 27th – 30th November 2008. Another work from the series was exhibited in the exhibition: “Hinterlands” (curated by Tamsin Morse and Chloe Hoare) Trafalgar Works, Portslade, 12th July - 9th August 2009. Two works from the series were exhibited in Stevens’s solo exhibition: “Distant Relations” at Mummery and Schnelle, London, February - March 2010. “Whistling in the Dark”, solo exhibition, Permanent Gallery, Brighton, 2010. One work from the series is now in the Zabludowicz collection.
