Abstract

What, if anything, can be done to further critical university education in the United Kingdom today, subjected as the universities have been and doubtless will continue to be to the global neo-liberal revolution? I approach the question by considering at a general level what universities might be for (section I). Then I say something about their present situation in light of that (section II), before going on to offer some practical suggestions about how the universities’ critical function might nonetheless be furthered, even if in the teeth of today's neo-liberal revolutionaries (section III).
